Navy gets its fifth Va.-class submarine: The New Hampshire is the latest boat of its type delivered by General Dynamics Electric Boat and Northrop Grumman. [Daily Press (Newport News, VA)](29 Aug 2008 04:00:00 EDT)Aug. 29--Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding's partner in nuclear-powered submarine production delivered to the Navy on Wednesday the fifth Virginia-class sub, eight months ahead of its original contract schedule. The New Hampshire, a $2.21 billion fast-attack sub, was completed in 72 months and handed over to the Navy by General Dynamics Electric Boat at its Groton, Conn., shipyard.

The center would be home to research under a new collaboration between Canon, a global maker of computer and digital-imaging equipment; and the UA's College of Optical Sciences.
