Overview
GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) develops advanced light water reactors and offers products and services used by operators of boiling water reactor (BWR) nuclear power plants to improve efficiency and boost output. Products include steam turbines designed for nuclear applications, new and refurbished parts, plant performance software, and instrumentation such as in-core and ex-core sensors, gamma thermometers, probes, and radiation monitors. In 2003 GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy relocated to the East Coast of the US, where most of its customers, such as Progress Energy, are located. In 2007 GE and Hitachi linked their nuclear energy businesses, with the Japanese giant taking a 40% stake in what was GE Nuclear Energy.
