Overview
Greater Baltimore Medical Center, also known as GBMC, operates an integrated health system for residents of Baltimore and surrounding counties. The 300-bed medical center provides psychiatry, surgery, women's health, oncology, and other specialty and general medical services. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services, and its emergency room treats about 60,000 patients every year. In addition, it provides teaching services through an affiliation with Johns Hopkins University. GBMC also includes the Greater Baltimore Medical Associates physician practices and the Gilchrist Hospice Care agency. The GBMC Foundation coordinates fundraising for the health network.
