Gap (UK Holdings) wants to bridge the gap between casual European and American fashion. A subsidiary of US retailer Gap Inc., Gap UK operatesmore than 135 retail stores throughout England and Wales. In France it operates about 40 Gap brand shops. The retail clothing chain is looking to bring its American parent company's other brands to England, starting with its upscale Banana Republic shops. Sales in Europe account for about 5% of the US clothing retailer's revenues. Gap UK's American parent company, which is stuggling at home, is looking abroad for growth.
