Nov. 21--A couple of months ago, Friends volleyball player Courtney McCune was digging around in the basement at her mother's house and found a jacket, which isn't really unusual in itself. But this was no normal jacket. "It was the jacket they gave us at Friends when we went to nationals in 1984," said McCune's mother, Rhonda Navarre.

Nov. 18--WICHITA -- The Ottawa University football team dominated the all-conference teams in a vote by the coaches. The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference champions had 19 players selected to the all-KCAC teams, plus earned coach, player and offensive player of the year awards.

Nov. 17--Being a host of one NAIA national event is a big deal. The NAIA made Ottawa the host site for first-round playoff football game and a women's soccer match. Ottawa Athletic Director Arabie Conner said it is neat for the NAIA to trust them to put on two events. It is the first time in both sports that Ottawa has been the home team in a playoff game or match.

Nov. 17--In many ways, the first time Jeff Paulson met Brian Ward was ground zero for everything that has happened to the McPherson football team this season. When the top spot for the Bulldogs came open after the 2006 season, Paulson, now a senior, was coming off an all-KCAC season at running back and part of the hiring committee that interviewed coaches.

Nov. 11--The Ottawa University women's soccer team had to knock off some rust after a 10-day layoff. The Lady Braves were afforded the break after winning the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title. Ottawa received a bye in the first round of the KCAC postseason tournament. The Lady Braves returned to action Tuesday in the semifinals against Friends at Peoples Bank Field.

Nov. 10--The Newman men's basketball team doesn't want its foray into playing Division I basketball teams to end after just one year.
