The company also publishes hotel and restaurant reviews. Its series include the flagship Fodor's Gold Guides (with maps and historical and cultural background information) as well as 25 Best (covering a city's top 25 sights). The company additionally provides insight on globe-trotting destinations via Fodor's.com, and on GPS and mobile devices. Fodor's was started by travel writer Eugene Fodor after the success of his first European travel guide, On the Continent, in 1936. The company is a division of Random House.
