Focus Features Company Description

This moviemaker is focused on producing sharp films. Focus Features is the specialty film unit of Universal Pictures. The unit, which produces films by cutting edge directors like Sophia Coppola, has become a frequent industry award winner and nominee in recent years, scoring several Oscar nods for Lost In Translation, Brokeback Mountain, and The Constant Gardener. Other titles include Talk To Me and Pride and Prejudice. Focus; its genre unit, Rogue Pictures; and Universal Pictures together operate as the film holdings of Universal Studios. (Vivendi sold the studio, among other entertainment assets, to GE in 2004 to form NBC Universal.) Focus was formed in 2002 through the merger of USA Films and Good Machine.
