The Finish Line is losing ground in the race for athletic footwear and other customers. The company sells athletic and casual big-brand name (adidas, NIKE, PUMA) footwear through about 680 Finish Line stores in 47 states. The firm also peddles products through its finishline.com online store. Finish Line's brick-and-mortar stores are bigger than its competitors' and offer more apparel and accessories, including jackets, backpacks, warm-ups, sunglasses, and watches. Ailing Finish Line in July 2009 sold its Man Alive business, which offered hip-hop-inspired apparel, to focus on its primary Finish Line locations.
