Overview
Grupo Financiero Santander, formerly Grupo Financiero Santander Serfin, is the parent of one of Mexico's largest banks, Banco Santander Serfin, which was formed in 2002 after predecessor Banca Serfin was bought by Grupo Santander in 2000. The bank offers consumer and business banking and lending through more than 1,000 branches across Mexico. It also provides property/casualty and life insurance, private banking, asset management, pension funds, and brokerage services. Grupo Santander maintains more than a 70% stake in Santander Serfin.
