FHLB Des Moines Company Description
Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB-Des Moines), part of the Federal Home Loan Bank System established by Congress in 1932, provides loans and other support services to member institutions that, in turn, provide funding for housing and economic development in their communities. Its members -- who are also stockholders and customers -- include more than 1,200 financial institutions in its five-state district of Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Membership is primarily comprised of commercial banks (almost 90%), but also thrifts, credit unions, and insurance agencies.
