FHLB Chicago Company Description
Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago rests residential mortgages on its broad shoulders. The bank funds residential mortgages and community development loans for about 840 commercial banks, credit unions, insurance companies, and thrifts throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. The bank uses a combination of private capital and public sponsorships to fund this development. Much of its emphasis is on assisting member institutions in providing affordable housing in their respective communities. It is one of 12 federal banks that comprise the Federal Home Loan Bank System and is cooperatively owned by its member institutions.
