More than 1,200 commercial banks, credit unions, insurance companies, and thrifts in the southeast bank at the institution, which calls itself FHLBank Atlanta. It's one of 12 Federal Home Loan Banks in the Federal Home Loan Bank System and is cooperatively owned by its member institutions, ranging in size from organizations with less than $5 million in assets to "super-regionals" with more than $125 billion. Institutions are required to purchase capital stock in the bank to be members. A government-sponsored enterprise, it funds residential mortgages and community development loans.
