S.A.C.I. Falabella
Overview
S.A.C.I. Falabella may be more than 100 years old, but Chile's #1 department store chain is hardly showing its age. Falabella runs some 75 department stores, 100-plus Sodimac home improvement stores, and about 55 Tottus supermarkets and hypermarkets in Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia, making it one of Latin America's largest retail companies. More than half of Falabella's stores are in its home country. Additional operations include a bank (with branches in Falabella stores in Chile and Peru, allowing them to stay open longer than other banks), retail financial services (insurance, travel services, credit cards), and shopping center development. Falabella was founded in 1889 by Salvatore Falabella.
