Its stores -- operating under the EyeMasters name and a host of others (Binyon's, Hour Eyes, Stein Optical, Visionworks, and Vision World) -- sell contact lenses, prescription eyewear, and sunglasses. The firm, founded in 1984, offers contacts and eyeglass frames under its own and designer brands, as well as one-hour service, onsite processing labs, and independent optometrists. In 2006 HVHC, Inc. (a vision subsidiary of health care provider Highmark) acquired Eye Care Centers of America for about $310 million.
