Evergreen Energy Company Description
Evergreen Energy (formerly KFx) wants to fuel the advancement of efficient, environmentally friendly power generation. The company has patented a process, known as K-Fuel, that uses heat and pressure to transform low-energy value coal and other feedstocks into high-energy fuel for power plants. After low-grade coal has been through the K-Fuel process, it can be used without causing power plants to violate pollution standards. In 2005 Evergreen Energy began shipments from its first K-Fuel commercial plant in Gillette, Wyoming. The pilot plant can refine 750,000 tons of coal a year; plans call for the facility to be expanded to be able to produce 10 million tons annually.
