Eurotunnel Company Description

Eurotunnel owns and operates the 31-mile Channel Tunnel, or Chunnel, and its rail shuttle system, which moves trucks, passenger cars, and buses beneath the English Channel between Folkestone, UK, and Calais/Coquelles, France. Vehicle shuttle operations account for the majority of sales; in addition, freight and passenger rail (operated by Eurostar) use the tunnel to connect the UK with the European continent. The company, which formerly had its shares traded through separate entities in the UK (Eurotunnel P.L.C.) and France (Eurotunnel SA), completed a reorganization in 2007 under the French equivalent of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and emerged as a unified company with a single class of shares.
