Overview
No light-weight, Erickson Air-Crane operates and manufactures S-64 Aircrane helicopters, able to lift up to 25,000 pounds! Its fleet of 15-plus S-64s provides aerial services for such jobs as firefighting, and utility, logging, construction and relief work. Some S-64s are equipped with incident response kits: hose nozzle and holding tank for firefighting, rescue basket, and aero-medical pod. The company also offers maintenance, repair and overhaul services. Customers are fire and forestry agencies, construction companies, utilities, and governments. Founded in 1971 by Jack Erickson, the company redeveloped the Sikorsky S-64, and has since expanded internationally. In 2010 it filed an initial public offering.
