The Edmonton-based utility said it lost $56 million on revenues of $350 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with a profit of $76 million on revenues of $954 million a year ago.

Epcor, which is owned by the City of Edmonton, said Tuesday the purchase includes facilities at the Steepbank, Firebag and Borealis sites and the company will also take over some wastewater operations at Suncor's base plant.
