Enka Company Description
Operating through about 20 subsidiaries primarily in Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, and Turkey, Enka focuses on building airports, bridges, industrial plants, hospitals, petrochemical plants, power plants, shopping malls, and other large structures and complexes. Enka also rents and manages office and retail buildings. The company operated hypermart shopping centers in Russia, but handed over operations of the markets by renting the spaces to Auchan in 2007. The transaction signals Enka's move away from retail management. Other operations include machinery distribution and management of natural-gas power plants. Tracing its roots back to 1957, Enka was formally established in 1967.
