Overview
Energy Transfer Equity is transferring some equity to get more out of its midstream energy assets. The company acts as the general partner of Energy Transfer Partners, which sells more than 600 million gallons of propane a year to more than 1 million customers in 40 states. It also operates about 14,500 miles of natural gas pipelines. Through its Energy Transfer Partners GP unit, Energy Transfer Equity owns a 2% general partnership stake in Energy Transfer Partners and about 40% of common stock. Energy Transfer Equity is managed by general partner LE GP, LLC.
