Energy Conversion Devices (ECD) gets a charge out of its technology. ECD makes storage products that generate and store power or store information electronically. Subsidiary United Solar Ovonic, which accounts for more than 95% of sales, makes flexible solar panels mainly for roofs, but also for telecom, lighting, and other uses. The Ovonic Materials Division licenses its optical memory storage technology to the likes of Sony and Toshiba. It also produces materials for use in NiMH and other batteries; Sanyo licenses its battery technology. ECD's largest customers are EDF En Developpement, Solardis-Soprasolar, Centrosolar AG, and Advanced Green Technologies, a unit of Advanced Roofing.
