Electrabel Company Description
Ringing in the new era of utility competition, Electrabel remains the #1 power company in Belgium. Operating nuclear, fossil-fueled, and hydroelectric power plants, it has a generating capacity of 31,200 MW. The diversified utility supplies electricity to 5.2 million customers, natural gas to more than 2.1 million customers. Electrabel, which produces about 90% of Belgium's electricity, also provides energy, heat, and steam to domestic industrial customers, trades power and gas, and manages electricity and natural gas infrastructures. The company is a subsidiary of giant utility group GDF SUEZ. In 2007 the company took control of SUEZ-TRACTEBEL.
