Formerly NOVA Information Systems, the firm is a major processor of credit card transactions in the US, offering point-of-sale (POS) authorization for all major credit cards, accounting and clearing services, and dispute resolution. Elavon also provides its customers -- more than 1 million small and midsized merchants and community banks -- with sales, leasing, and maintenance of POS terminals connected to its network. It also processes checks. Elavon is a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp.
