Eimskipafélag Íslands, better known as Eimskip, provides transportation and logistics services, mainly for temperature-controlled cargo. Through its subsidiaries, the company maintains about 180 temperature-controlled storage facilities, plus fleets of some 50 vessels and about 2,000 trucks and trailers. Overall, Eimskip has about 200 bases in some 30 countries, mainly in Europe and North America. The company traces its roots back to 1914, as the first shipping line in Iceland. Eimskip's subsidiaries include VersaCold, Faroe Ship, and Eimskip-CTG. Investment firms Landsbanki and Yucaipa collectively own about 75% of Eimskip.
