Overview
Eurobank Ergasias has a lot of branches for shaking the money tree. The bank operates some 500 branches, business centers, and ATMs in its home country Greece and about 1,250 more in about half-a-dozen other central and southeastern European countries. In addition to traditional retail banking and consumer lending, Eurobank offers business banking, factoring, insurance, leasing, investment banking, and wealth management services. The bank was founded in 1990 as Euromerchant Bank. Swiss-based EFG Bank European Financial Group owns about 44% of Eurobank, which in 2011 announced plans to merge with Alpha Bank, another Greek institution.
