As one of the largest ISPs in the US, EarthLink provides Internet connections to about 3 million consumer and small-business subscribers in that area of the planet. It provides premium broadband access to about one third of those customers. The company also offers such services as VoIP computer telephony and Web hosting. Earthlink provides broadband access over cable lines through agreements with network operators including Time Warner Cable, Bright House, and Comcast, while DSL access is made available over lines owned by Covad, AT&T, Verizon, and Qwest. Subsidiary New Edge Networks implements and manages private data networks in addition to providing Internet access and Web hosting for businesses.
