DURECT wants your medicine to go DURECTly where it's needed. It is developing drug-delivery systems to provide long-term therapy for such conditions as chronic pain, heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer's. Drug delivery technologies provided by DURECT include SABER, a controlled-release injectable; TRANSDUR, a transdermal patch; ORADUR, a sustained release oral gel-cap; DUROS, an osmotic implant; and DURIN, a biodegradable implant. Its R&D efforts are conducted independently and collaboratively. DURECT sells biodegradable polymers (Lactel) and osmotic pumps (ALZET) to pharmaceutical and medical research firms through direct sales representatives and distributors.
