Duke Energy is a John Wayne-sized power business. The company has 3.9 million electric customers and about 500,000 gas customers in the US South and Midwest. Its US Franchised Electric and Gas unit operates primarily through its Duke Energy Carolinas, Duke Energy Ohio, Duke Energy Indiana and Duke Energy Kentucky regional businesses. The company's Commercial Power unit has 8,020 MW of unregulated generation. Duke Energy International has almost 4,000 MW of generation (mostly in Latin America). Crescent Resources (a joint venture with Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund) manages land holdings and develops real estate projects.
