Digital Angel Company Description
Digital Angel (formerly known as Applied Digital Solutions) can get under your skin. The company is best known for its VeriChip technology -- computer chips that can be embedded under the skin and read by a remote sensor to check vital signs and diagnose medical problems. Its former VeriChip subsidiary markets the technology for medical use in humans. In mid-2008 VeriChip sold its Xmark Corporation unit (RFID systems) to Stanley Canada, a subsidiary of The Stanley Works, for nearly $48 million in cash. Digital Angel gets about two-thirds of its sales in North America.
