Digi-Key Company Description
Digi-Key holds more than one key to electronics distribution. The company distributes electronic components to businesses and consumers mainly in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Digi-Key uses an entirely in-house sales force and does business by means of telemarketing and a catalog featuring more than 300,000 products from 400-plus manufacturers, such as 3M, Freescale, and Texas Instruments. Its products, ranging from AC line cords to zinc-oxide non-linear resistors, also are available through a downloadable catalog featured on the company's Web site. Founded in 1971 by CEO and owner Ronald Stordahl, Digi-Key takes its name from the ham radio digital electronic keyer kit he developed and sold in college.
