Overview
Delphi has taken the long and winding road alone, after being spun off from GM in 1999. Delphi makes just about everything mechanical and electrical/electronic that goes into a car or commercial vehicle. Business divisions include Electrical/Electronic Architecture (vehicle electrical systems), Powertrain Systems (engine, fuel, emissions systems), Electronics and Safety (operation controls and infotainment), and Thermal Systems (climate control, radiators, heat exchangers). Delphi operates in 30 countries. In a deal that gave control of the company to its lenders, Delphi Automotive (formerly Delphi Corporation) emerged from bankruptcy a private company in 2009. Major customers include GM, Ford, and VW.
