Food retailer Delhaize Group runs more than 2,500 stores -- including flagship banner Delhaize Le Lion -- throughout North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Food retailing accounts for a lion's share of the company's profits, but it also engages in food wholesaling and non-food retailing of pet and health and beauty products. Delhaize Group's sales network consists of company-operated, affiliated, and franchised stores, 85% of which are in supermarket format. Other store formats include neighborhood, convenience, and specialty stores. US subsidiary Delhaize America is one of the largest supermarket operators on the East Coast.
