Danaos Company Description
Containership owner Danaos helps big boxes make their way around the world. Through its subsidiaries, the company owns containerships that are chartered to shipping lines. Its fleet includes more than 35 vessels with an overall container capacity of about 150,000 twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEU). The company has chartered its ships to many of the largest liner companies in the world, including Maersk, CMA-CGM and Hapag-Lloyd. The founding Coustas family, which includes company CEO John Coustas, controls an 80% stake in Danaos. Another Coustas family enterprise contracts to manage the Danaos fleet.
