CyDex Company Description
CyDex Pharmaceuticals helps the medicine go down; it also helps the medicine stay stable, dissolve better, and work faster. The drug developer uses its Captisol formulation technology to improve the solubility and stability, as well the therapeutic effectiveness, of injectable drugs. CyDex licenses Captisol to other firms that use it in their drug development; Pfizer's schizophrenia treatment Geodon and Bristol-Myers Squibb's antipsychotic Abilify use the technology, for instance. CyDex also has its own stable of Captisol-enabled candidates. To get its products to market faster, it is combining already-approved drugs with the Captisol technology to create improved therapies. CyDex filed to go public in 2008.
