CTVglobemedia Company Description

CTVglobemedia (formerly Bell Globemedia) doesn't rule the world, but it does own The Globe. The company owns The Globe and Mail, one of Canada's top newspapers, and CTV, Canada's #1 private TV network with 27 owned stations. It also owns stakes in 35 specialty channels (Bravo, TSN), as well as 35 radio stations through its CHUM Radio Network. In addition, it owns stakes in the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs pro sports teams. The firm was formed in 2001 by BCE and The Thomson Corporation (which later became Thomson Reuters). The Woodbridge Company, a holding firm for the Thomson family, owns 40% of the company. Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board owns 25%, and Torstar Corporation owns 20%.
