Back To Overview

  • You say that you are Microsoft Certified. What does that mean?
    • Hoover's achieved Microsoft Partner Certification in June 2009 and will be looking to complete our Microsoft Dynamics Product certification next year. Being Certified means that the Access Hoover's product has been fully tested and sanctioned by Microsoft, and Hoover's is formally recognized by Microsoft as a partner. Hoover's will continue to invest in certification to show our commitment to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM solution.
  • What is the relationship between Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) and Hoover's? How do your offerings differ?
    • D&B is Hoover's parent company. D&B purchased Hoover's in 2003 because of our strength in the internet space. While D&B's core competency is its database (all of Hoover's solutions are powered by D&B content), Hoover's core competency is the functionality and tools that power that data. While D&B also maintains a large credit database, Hoover's is primarily focused on sales and marketing data – and specifically D&B records that are complete with a certain set of core data points. Hoover's currently receives all marketable records from D&B's WorldBase file (65 million companies and 85 million people). This includes certain specialty data points, such as D&B prescreen score and facility square footage.
    • The Access Hoover's solution is a powerful extension of D&B data. It makes D&B data actionable for CRM users by providing data enrichment, cleansing and list building functionality – all which leverage D&B data – directly within the CRM workflow. Users don't have to leave the system they use most to search for and import key data. The Access Hoover's functionality resides seamlessly within the CRM.
  • What if my company already has a D&B enterprise subscription or licensing deal?
    • As you've already identified the value of D&B data, your company is a terrific candidate for Access Hoover's. Reach out to your D&B account rep and that person will engage their counterpart at Hoover's. We are part of the same corporate family and will work together to find the optimal solution for your organization.
  • Do you have to subscribe to Hoover's Online web service to use Access Hoover's?
    • No. Access Hoover's operates independently of Hoover's Online (www.hoovers.com). However, if you are a Hoover's Online (HOL) subscriber, you can access even more detailed information on your Accounts within your CRM via Access Hoover's. In addition, HOL subscribers have access to News & Alerts and email functionality via the web service.
  • What is the cost for Access Hoover's?
    • Access Hoover's is priced at a per user, per month rate with a required annual commitment and a minimum of 5 users. For non-Hoover's customers, Access Hoover's pricing starts at $100 per user per month. For current Hoover's customers, you can add Access Hoover's to your existing subscription for an additional $15-$50 per user per month. Volume discounts are available. Please contact a Hoover's sales specialist for more information.
  • What sets Access Hoover's apart from competitors?
    • Proprietary Content

Hoover's and D&B own all of our own data so we maintain ultimate control over its quality and availability. We would never be at risk of relying on someone else's company data or data quality. In addition all of our data is subject to D&B's rigorous DUNSRight™ quality assurance process. DUNSRight, our trademarked process for collecting, validating, and enhancing business data, is the most trusted in the industry. Other data compilers utilize similar steps but no one else has the full process and no one else has invested as much in their people and technology: tens of millions of dollars per year to enable and continuously improve DUNSRight.

      Data Highlights:

      • The largest marketable database in the world, currently at 65 million companies and 85 million contacts.
      • D-U-N-S® Numbers (the industry standard for identification of unique business entities, and a requirement for doing business with the U.S. government)
      • Millions of Family Tree corporate linkages. A company's Family Tree graphically demonstrates relationships between headquarters and branches, parent companies and subsidiaries.
      • List of key competitors
      • Detailed company overviews
      • Biographical summaries for 600K decision-makers
      • Historical financial information
      • News and press releases
      • First Research industry data (company challenges, pain points, growth opportunities, trends, and sales call preparation questions)
      • D&B prescreen score

      Unique Functionality:

      • Gives you the ability to clean and enrich your CRM records to keep your database fresh
      • Automatically checks for duplicate Leads, Contacts and Accounts to inform users before they add records into the CRM. Prevents users from importing duplicates identified in large lists.
      • Optional bundle with D&B "Optimizer" to bulk cleanse and append all CRM records with D-U-N-S Numbers upon installation to ensure new CRM system is accurate from the beginning
      • Ability to add custom Family Tree relationships within a CRM record
      • Allows list building and import on demand, using more than 40 criteria (location, industry, sales size, growth rates, financial info, employees, etc.) to create highly targeted prospect lists as needed (so they don't get stale)
      • Additional Hoover's Online access from within the CRM to easily get to custom company reports, alerts and other Hoover's services
      • Added access to Hoover's API for additional customized CRM solutions (like Web form enrichment)
  • What are the 50+ data points available for field mapping with Access Hoover's?
    • Please reference the "Data Descriptions" .pdf in the Access Hoover's Information section.
  • Is there a limit to the number of records I can import?
    • You can import an unlimited amount of data throughout the life of your subscription. The only restriction is on the number of records that can be imported at one time. Right now that limit is 1,000. For lists that exceed 1,000 records, the "Import All" button will be grayed out (not clickable).
  • What versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM are supported by Access Hoover's? Will Access Hoover's work with the new Dynamics CRM 5.0?
    • Access Hoover's is compatible with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Online and On-Premise. Our product was not designed to be backward compatible. Customers that are using an older version of the Dynamics CRM will need to upgrade for Access Hoover's to work properly. We are currently researching how Dynamics CRM 5.0 will affect Access Hoover's (if at all) and have made compatibility with this version a top priority for 2010.
  • Can I try Access Hoover's before I sign up?
    • Of course. You can take a 24-hour Test Drive (offered on our Dynamics CRM Online environment), then reactivate for another 24 hours, as many times as you want. Register for Test Drive access at www.crm.hoovers.com/msdynamics.
  • How long does a typical Access Hoover's implementation take? Are professional services required?
    • A typical implementation takes 2 hours and does not require professional services. CRM System Administrators can download the installer link which will guide them through the set-up process. They then must customize their field mapping and Account, Lead and Contact objects. Please reference the applicable "Installation Guide" .pdf in the Customer Resource Center.
