CREIT Company Description
Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust (CREIT) owns industrial, retail, and office space in urban areas throughout Canada as well as one property in Chicago. Its more than 100 properties make up some 13 million sq. ft. of commercial space. CREIT's industrial and retail portfolio each contain about 5 million sq. ft. while its office properties comprise the other 3 million sq. ft. About half of its portfolio consists of retail properties. Major tenants include Save-On Foods, the Government of Canada, and Abbott Laboratories. The company was established in 1984 and became a public REIT in 1993.
