Oct. 4--The future of the news media will be the focus of a forum Monday sponsored by the National Press Club and Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Mass Communications. "The First Amendment, Freedom of the Press and the Future of Journalism" is part of VCU's annual Mass Comm Week, which includes lectures, presentations and workshops that are free and open to the public.

Sep. 30--MIDDLETOWN -- Got $650,000? The Sorg Mansion, 200-206 S. Main St., is for sale, according to Coldwell Banker Oyer sales agent Lynn O. Tankersley. The mansion, located at the gateway to Middletown's South Main Historic District, has been on the market for about two weeks, Tankersley said. "The beauty and the grandeur of the interior is stunning," Tankersley said.

Cox Newspapers is selling 29 newspapers, including the Austin American-Statesman in Texas, the company said. The newspapers are going on the market at a time when advertising revenues are down and the Internet is bringing down readership, the Austin American-Statesman reported Sunday.
