Cox provides telecommunications services as a competitive local-exchange carrier (CLEC). In addition, the company offers voice and data communications to businesses, and has investments in TV programming and broadband technology firms. Media conglomerate Cox Enterprises controlled 63% of Cox Communications until it bought out the rest of the company for $8.5 billion and took it private.
