Shares in Cookson Group gained by more than 11 percent, the biggest winner by noon.

London stock market up in early trade [Xinhua News Agency](10 Nov 2009 06:37:00 EST)The London stock market rose in early trading on Tuesday with the FTSE 100 index up by 19.29 points, or 0.37 percent, at 5,254.47 points at 0900 GMT. Shares in Yell Group and Cookson Group were all up by more than 10 percent in early trading. However, shares in Barclays fell more than 2 percent after it reported a 19 percent fall in nine-month profits.

Shares of IMI increased more than 10 percent, the biggest winner by midday. Investors were buoyed by comments from G20 finance leaders at the weekend meeting in Scotland that leading economies would keep their stimulus measures in place.
