Yale-New Haven supports its community and the brainiacs at Yale. Yale-New Haven Hospital, part of the Yale New Haven Health System, provides tertiary care in more than 100 medical specialties to residents of southwestern Connecticut. The hospital has nearly 950 beds; about 200 of those beds are part of Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and about 75 are part of Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. In addition to pediatrics and behavioral health care, Yale-New Haven Hospital provides cardiac and cancer care, performs organ transplants, and offers a variety of outpatient clinics. The medical center serves as the primary teaching hospital for Yale University's medical school.
