Yadkin Valley Financial Corporation was formed in 2006 to be the holding company for Yadkin Valley Bank and Trust. The bank and its Piedmont Bank, High Country Bank, Cardinal State Bank (acquired in 2008), and American Community Bank (2009) divisions operate more than 30 branches in central and western portions of North Carolina, and neighboring parts of northern South Carolina. They offer standard deposit products, including checking and savings accounts, money market accounts, CDs, and IRAs. They primarily originate real estate mortgages, which account for more than 60% of the company's loan portfolio.
