Company Description
Although it has yet to be immortalized in song like its male counterpart, YWCA of the U.S.A. promotes the empowerment of women and girls through some 300 locations across the US. The not-for-profit organization provides 2.6 million women with services such as sports and physical fitness programs, shelters, child care, employment training and job placement, and youth development programs. It also sponsors racial justice, antiviolence, and women's economic advancement programs. YWCA of the U.S.A. is a founding member of World YWCA, which represents more than 25 million women in about 120 countries. The first YWCA in the US was founded in New York City in 1858. The national organization was created in 1907.
