Wilshire Bancorp is the holding company for Wilshire State Bank, where ethnic minorities are the banking majority. Based in the Koreatown section of Los Angeles, the bank has more than 20 branches -- mainly in California, but also in New Jersey, New York, and Texas. It also has a half-dozen lending offices that specialize in making Small Business Administration (SBA) loans. Wilshire State Bank targets small to midsized minority-owned businesses and ethnic groups underserved by many national banking institutions.
