The regional security services contractor and its subsidiary TransNational Security offer uniformed and special events security guards, emergency and alarm response personnel, vandalism patrol officers, and labor dispute specialists. Whelan's security staff is placed at banks, government facilities, hospitals, industrial facilities, schools, and shopping centers primarily throughout the Central and Mid-Atlantic regions of the US. The firm has branch offices in more than two dozen states. Whelan Security was founded in 1949 by James T. Whelan, uncle of current chairman Patrick Twardowski; it is still owned by Twardowski family members.
