In 2009 Aguilar purchased Wham-O from Hong Kong's Cornerstone Overseas Investment, which had held the toy company since 2006. Aguilar was drawn to Wham-O because he, as owner and operator of Manufacturing Marvel, was already making some of Wham-O's products in his factories in the US, China, and Mexico. Aguilar and fellow investors saw opportunities for growth for Wham-O and its iconic products portfolio and had an emotional attachment to the company's names toys.
Since purchasing Wham-O, Aguilar bought Sprig Toys, a Colorado firm that made eco-friendly preschool toys. The purchase enables Wham-O to make green Frisbees, Hula Hoops, and other products, from recycled plastic.
