Western Gas Partners' style is to gather and go. The company gathers and transports natural gas for its largest customer and parent, Anadarko Petroleum. It pumps about 900 million cu. ft. of gas a day through nine gas gathering systems, six treating facilities, one natural gas liquids pipeline, and one interstate pipeline (totaling more than 4,620 miles across Wyoming, Utah, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas). Operating principally under long-term contracts, the company gathers natural gas from individual wells, after which it is compressed, treated, and ultimately delivered to end-users. Anadarko Petroleum spun off Western Gas Partners in 2008 and retains a controlling stake.
