Weight Watchers Limited helps its UK customers watch their weight, but popular low-carbohydrate and glycemic index (GI) diets have the company watching its back. As the UK branch of the US-based weight management giant Weight Watchers, the company's members follow the ProPoints plan, launched in late 2010. The group's customers attend meetings at one of the company's several thousand locations. As part of the plan, participants count points assigned to certain foods to achieve their slimming goals. Most fruits and vegetables are low-point or points-free. Weight Watchers charges a nominal fee for meetings and sells food, publications, scales, point calculators, and other weight-loss tools.
