Company Description

Walt Disney Feature Animation (Disney Animation) may like computers, but it hasn't completely ditched its pens and pencils. The Disney Studios unit develops and produces the animated films for the Mickey Mouse empire that fall outside the Pixar banner. (Sister firm Pixar became a Disney subsidiary in 2006.) Historically a leader in two-dimensional animated films, Disney Animation temporarily abandoned its hand-drawn efforts after repeatedly losing ground at the box office to computer-generated (CG) movies. However, Disney has since resurrected the practice of traditional hand-drawn films, the most recent of which was 2009's The Princess and the Frog. It also releases CG films (Tangled, Bolt).
