Visteon is the futuristic-sounding name Ford Motor bestowed on its automotive components unit when it was spun off in 2000. A leading auto parts maker in the US, the company restructured its product offerings into three primary groups: Electronic Products (audio systems, driver control systems, infotainment systems, lighting, powertrain and feature control modules); Climate Control (climate systems and powertrain cooling systems); and Interior Products (cockpits, door modules, consoles). Ford accounts for about one-third of sales; Visteon also sells to aftermarket customers. The company gets around 70% of its sales outside the US. Visteon filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors in 2009. To read the full description, subscribe now.

Competitive Landscape for Visteon Corporation
Demand for auto parts is driven by new car sales, which are strongly affected by interest rates, and by the replacement market. Company profitability industry depends partly on the difficulty of manufacturing products and partly on demand volume, since many costs are fixed. Small companies can compete successfully by focusing on a small number of products or some highly technical ones. The structure of the industry is complex, with most smaller companies (referred to as "tier 2" and "tier 3" suppliers) selling parts to larger suppliers (referred to as "tier 1" suppliers), who in turn sell component assemblies or modules to car and truck assemblers such as GM and Ford - collectively called OEMs. To read the full description, subscribe now.Top Visteon Corporation Competitors
